Health Information and Quality Authority Welcomes Publication of the Report of the Commission on Patient Safety and Quality Assurance
The Health Information and Quality Authority today welcomed the publication of the Report of the Commission on Patient Safety and Quality Assurance. The Authority's Chief Executive, Dr Tracey Cooper, said: "This is an important Report that outlines changes that are essential to further improve the quality and safety of care that patients should receive throughout Ireland. It makes recommendations that, when implemented, will be instrumental in driving the changes that will be required for us to move towards a fully patient-centred, accountable and reliable health system.
"We look forward to working with patients, the public, healthcare staff and other key stakeholders in the implementation of these recommendations."
The Board of the Authority will be meeting next month and will give careful consideration to the Commission's Report. It will reflect on the recommendations contained within the Report, and their impact on the future development of the Authority, as it continues to ensure that patient safety is at the heart of its work and, consequently, the delivery of a safer and higher quality health service.
Ends.
