The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and the Department of Health and Children are making a small number of bursaries available to participants from the Republic of Ireland to attend the Health Technology Assessment International 2010 (HTAi) conference taking place in the RDS in Dublin from 6 – 9 June 2010.

Those eligible to apply for these unconditional bursaries include individuals working substantively in the healthcare services in the Republic of Ireland and individuals who are representative of patient advocacy groups. It is envisaged that successful healthcare worker applications will come from those directly employed by the HSE, or other agencies funded by the Department of Health and Children, or healthcare workers providing services substantially for these agencies. Patient advocacy groups considered as part of this proposal should have registered charity status.

The purpose of these bursaries is to foster an awareness of the increasing importance of HTA and its application to improve healthcare quality and safety and inform policy making in Ireland, and for the attendees to understand how it might benefit their area of practice. It may further enable the development of useful national and international networking for participants.

The bursaries cover:

• registration for the scientific conference programme (3 ½ days of conference including lunches) Applicants may wish to register for the full conference or may wish to attend on specific days only – this must be clearly stated on the application form.
• attendance at specific workshops indicated on the form.

The bursaries DO NOT cover registration fees for social activities.

• complete and return the application form by 5pm on the 21 May 2010
• application forms are available here
• email your completed application form to Amy Holmes at aholmes@hiqa.ie
• include in the email ‘why you should be considered and what organisation you represent’.

The selection process will take place the week commencing 24 May 2010, and successful applicants will be notified on 28 May 2010.
