Older people's publication statement 05 August 2016
Today, the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has published 23 inspection reports on residential settings for older people. HIQA monitors designated centres for compliance with Health Act Regulations and the National Quality Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland.
Seventeen of today’s reports refer to unannounced inspections. Fourteen reports have findings of serious major and moderate non-compliances. Nine reports were found to be compliant with the regulations and standards.
Five reports were full-18 Outcome inspections carried out for the purpose of registration. Seven reports were 10 Outcome inspections, and two were inspections into single issues.
Nine reports relate to inspections to follow-up on failings identified on previous inspections. Seven of these follow-up inspections identified further issues of concern such as Medication Management, Safeguarding and Safety, and Safe and Suitable Premises.
