HIQA Grants Certificate of Registration to West Kerry Community Hospital
The Health Information and Quality Authority is pleased to announce that it has granted registration of Ospidéal Pobail Chorca Dhuibhne (West Kerry Community Hospital) in Dingle, Co Kerry as a designated centre.
The Certificate of Registration, issued by the Authority today, will enable the HSE proceed with the transfer of residents into the new facility.
Dr Marion Witton, Chief Inspector of Social Services, HIQA, said “effective regulation is there to act in the public interest and to ensure residents are in receipt of the residential services they deserve. It is important that residents of nursing homes are safe, therefore under no circumstances will the Authority compromise on what is required to ensure the safety of residents”.
“The regulations and the standards underpinning them are necessary and, in the interest of all residents of nursing homes, are enforced by HIQA in a way that is also practical, pragmatic and sensible,” Dr Witton said.
“By granting this registration, the Authority is acting in the public interest and in the interest of the health, safety and quality of life of the residents.” “The Authority will continue to work with the HSE, as with any provider, to ensure the smooth and safe transition from the previous centre to the new facility. As with all registered nursing homes, we will also monitor the services provided to ensure the people living there continue to receive safe care”, she said.
