HIQA welcomes appointment of new Board Chairperson
The Health Information and Quality Authority has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Health Dr James Reilly of Brian McEnery as the Authority’s new Board Chairperson.
Mr. McEnery succeeds Pat McGrath who has served as Chairperson of the HIQA Board for the last six years and was previously Chair of the interim Board of the Authority.
In welcoming Mr. McEnery’s appointment, Pat McGrath said, “I am delighted with Brian’s appointment as he brings a wealth of business and healthcare experience with him that will assist the Authority in its development over the coming years.
Since the establishment of the Authority in May 2007, we have worked hard to develop a pro-active approach in driving improvements in the quality and safety of our health and social services.
When we were established, we were under no illusion regarding the size of the task ahead. This is even more so now, especially in the current economic climate. Through the contribution and commitment of our Board and staff, a solid foundation has been established to ensure HIQA continues to carry out its work in the interests of people who use our health and social care services.”
