HIQA monitors designated centres for compliance with Health Act Regulations and the National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland.

Ten of today’s reports relate to full 18-outcome inspections, eight reports are inspections against 10 outcomes, and four reports are follow-up inspections.

Fourteen inspections were unannounced, the provider was not informed that the inspection would be taking place. Eight reports relate to announced inspections.

Good practice and evidence of safe, high-quality care for residents was found in fifteen centres. In general, the providers of these centres were ensuring good levels of compliance with the regulations and standards.

Inspectors found evidence of non-compliance in seven centres. Residents’ needs were not always met in these centres. Areas of non-compliance identified included Health and Safety and Risk Management, Safe and Suitable Premises, Health and Social Care Needs, Medication Management and Documentation.
