The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) is revising its 2009 national standards for the prevention and control of Healthcare Associated Infections and is seeking your views on proposed new standards. The draft revised national standards are designed to promote a culture of patient safety through the efforts of all staff working together to reduce Healthcare Associated Infections. They will apply to all acute healthcare services provided or funded by the Health Service Executive (HSE). New standards for primary and community health and social care services will be developed later, with the 2009 standards applying to these services in the meantime. We would like to hear your views on these draft standards as part of an overall strategy to ensure the sustainable delivery of safe and effective infection prevention and control in Irish hospitals.
