The Health Information and Standards Directorate in HIQA has launched a public consultation on Draft National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres. This consultation aims to gather the views of children living in residential care, their families and people involved in caring for children in residential care on the draft national standards. This feedback will be considered and will inform the development of the final National Standards.

The Health Information and Standards Directorate in HIQA has developed Draft National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres. The draft standards, which are based on national and international evidence, were developed with key stakeholders. They have been developed to improve the care and support provided to children in residential care. The standards will apply to all children’s residential centres and are a framework for best practice in providing child-centred, safe and effective care and support to children in residential care across Ireland.
