In partnership with the Department of Health and the Health Service Executive (HSE), we have conducted the National Engagement on Digital Health and Social Care. The aim of the engagement was to understand the opinions and attitudes of the Irish public and professionals in relation to the digitalisation of health and social care services.
Digital technology is an integral part of day-to-day life. Integrating technology into healthcare has the potential to improve the efficiency, safety and quality of service delivery. Progressing the digital transformation of health and social care services is a key focus both nationally and internationally.
The National Engagement on Digital Health and Social Care was undertaken to build on findings from the National Public Engagement on Health Information, published in 2021, and in the context of the evolving digital health landscape. With increased investment in digital health, it was important to engage with the public and professionals working in health and social care services, to inform the development of person-centred digital systems which can strengthen and support care delivery.
This document presents the findings from the National Engagement on Digital Health and Social Care. HIQA will use the findings to inform their health information programme of work. The Department of Health and the HSE will also use the findings to inform legislation, national policy, and future developments in digital health and social care.
