Guidelines for Interpretation of Economic Evaluations
What are these Guidelines?
Their purpose is to promote assessments that accurately summarise the available economic evaluation literature and interpret it in the context of the Irish healthcare system. This is with a view to maximising the use of relevant published evidence and minimising duplication of effort.
The guidelines are intended to inform HTAs conducted by, or on behalf of the Health Information and Quality Authority, the Department of Health, the HSE and the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics, to include health technology suppliers preparing applications for reimbursement. They are also intended to support clinical guideline developers as well as other practitioners within the HSE tasked with the appraisal of the cost-effectiveness of the technologies.
These guidelines were developed by the HTA directorate in consultation with its Scientific Advisory Group. The draft guidelines were made available for wider comment through a process of public and targeted consultation in mid 2014 and were subsequently revised where necessary before being approved by the Board of the Authority and published on the Authority’s website
